For seven years, the Animal Rescue Korea website has been a place to share information, discuss animal issues, and find homes for homeless animals. Bangsiri, Snoopy, and Pedro were all listed there. So were Jellybean and Yangee. Skittish Tanpoong, paralyzed Ippeun, and seventeen-year-old Cielo all got wonderful homes because the site made their stories public. ARK hosted most of the articles I wrote during those years, but now ARK is disappearing.
I don’t know what to say, but I’m sure Karen, the site owner, must have her reasons. It’s a shock, and it’s sad, but it’s time to move forward. I had already removed myself from the (now-dead) ARK Facebook page because there were too many rude remarks and too many discussions that didn’t interest me. I joined its successor, ARNK (what a dumb name), briefly, but left when I realized I was welcome only as long as I was willing to STFU.
Thanks, Karen, for all you’ve done for homeless animals in Korea. I’ll miss ARK and all it stood for.
